4x6 non title event は、ファニー・テルノとバルナベ・モワナールによる、フランス国立高等写真学校（ENSP）の学生への提案プロジェクトであり、ENSP学生協会およびギャラリー「Le Magasin de Jouets」の支援を受けて実施されました。このプロジェクトは、かつてアメリカ・エデン湖畔にあったブラック・マウンテン・カレッジの教育から着想を得ています。

1933年から1957年まで存在したこのカレッジでは、「共同体性」と「実験精神」を基本原理とする新しい芸術教育が展開されていました。1952年には、ジョン・ケージ、ロバート・ラウシェンバーグ、デヴィッド・チューダー、マース・カニンガムによって、後に「ハプニング」と呼ばれる新たな形式の作品が誕生しました。当初の名称は「Non Title Event（無題の出来事）」であり、音楽（ケージ）、ピアノ（チューダー）、絵画（ラウシェンバーグ）、ダンス（カニンガム）といった異なるメディウムを用いた即興的なコラボレーションでした。

この「Non Title Event」という仕組みを現代に再起動し、思考の中核に芸術的な実践や行為を置くこと、そして体験の共有というダイナミズムを再び呼び起こすこと。それがこのプロジェクトの核です。

「4x6 non title event」では、学生がギャラリー空間に赴き「何かを行う」ことが目的とされました。1ヶ月間にわたって、ギャラリー「Le Magasin de Jouets」では、1週間ごとに4つのグループ展示が開催され、6人1組の学生が共に空間を変容させ、共同での試行錯誤を重ねる実験の場となりました。

展示方法の試み、インスタレーション、パフォーマンス、作品の読み合い、メディアの横断などが展開され、グループの構成は、作品同士の響き合いや統一性を基準に編成されました。各グループは、ギャラリー所蔵のコレクションの中から1点の作品を選び、それを展示に組み込むことが条件とされました。

あらかじめ決められた要素はほとんどなく、それがこのプロジェクトの醍醐味でもあります。学生たちは4日間の準備期間を経て、金曜から土曜にかけて展示を行いました。火曜日には、制作中の空間が一般公開され、プロセスの可視化や現代美術の実践の断片が示されました。

4x6 non title event was a proposal initiated by Fanny Terno and Barnabé Moinard for the students of the École nationale supérieure de la photographie (ENSP), with the support of the ENSP Student Association and the gallery Le Magasin de Jouets. It was inspired by the experimental pedagogy developed at Black Mountain College.

From 1933 to 1957, along the shores of Lake Eden in the United States, this school introduced a new educational model based on collectivity and experimentation. In 1952, John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg, David Tudor, and Merce Cunningham realized what would later be called a “happening.” Its original name was Non Title Event, a unique form of production where everyone participated using their own medium—Cage with sound, Tudor at the piano, Rauschenberg with canvases, and Cunningham with dance.

To reawaken this dispositif—one that centers thought and artistic action within shared experience—is to revive the spirit of collaboration and the expansion of possibilities.

With 4x6 non title event, the goal was for students to come into the gallery and “do something.” Over the span of one month, the Magasin de Jouets hosted four collective exhibitions, each lasting one week. Four groups of six students transformed the space into a laboratory for collective experimentation: exhibition hanging tests, installations, performances, critical dialogue, and cross-disciplinary practices.

Groupings were based on the coherence of works and the potential for resonance between them. Each group chose one artwork from the gallery’s collection to incorporate into their show, reinforcing a collaborative and curatorial approach.

Few elements were planned in advance—this was precisely the strength of the project. The aim was to produce an exhibition presented from Friday to Saturday, following a four-day incubation process. Every Tuesday, the gallery opened to the public, offering a glimpse into the installation in progress and an encounter with contemporary artistic practices.

4x6 non title event est une proposition aux étudiants de l’École nationale supérieure de la photographie par Fanny Terno et Barnabé Moinard avec le soutien de l’Association des Étudiants de l’ENSP et de la galerie Le Magasin de Jouets qui s’inspire de l’enseignement élaboré au Black Mountain College.

Là, entre 1933 et 1957 au bord du Lac Eden aux États-Unis une nouvelle pédagogie artistique est née avec pour principes fondamentaux le collectif et l’expérimentation. En 1952, John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg, David Tudor et Merce Cunningham réalisèrent ce que l’histoire allait ensuite appeler happening.

Non Title Event fut le nom original donné à cette forme inédite de production à laquelle chacun prit part quels que soient ses outils - Cage avec la musique, Tudor au piano, Rauschenberg avec des toiles, Cunningham avec la danse.Réanimer ce dispositif , à savoir la mise en commun des expériences et le recen- trage de la pratique et des actions artistiques dans la pensée, c’est renouer avec cette dynamique de partage permettant un champ de possibles élargi.

Avec 4x6 non title event il s’agit pour les étudiants de venir dans la galerie pour y faire des choses. Ainsi pendant un mois vont se succéder au Magasin de Jouets quatre expositions collectives d’une semaine chacune. Quatre groupes de six étudiants vont transformer l’espace en un laboratoire d’expérimentations communes : essais d’accrochages, installations, performances, regards croisés sur les travaux, transversalité des médiums...

La cohérence des travaux et la possibilité de résonances entre eux sont les critères qui ont guidé la formation des groupes. Dans un esprit de collaboration, ces derniers ont tous choisi dans la collection de la galerie une œuvre qui sera à intégrer dans l’exposition.

Peu d’éléments connus d’avance donc - c’est là tout l’intérêt du projet. Il ne reste plus qu’à œuvrer afin de proposer du vendredi au samedi une exposition née d’une gestation de quatre jours. L’espace en construction sera ouvert au public chaque mardi pour donner à voir les travaux en cours d’installation ainsi qu’un aperçu de diverses pra- tiques artistiques contemporaines.
