Tokonoma Syndrome - Activation
This performance activates the installation Tokonoma Syndrome (2025), transforming it into a space of shared experience inspired by the structure of a chakai (tea gathering), i n which the image replaces tea as the mediating element. Here, images are prepared, savored, and shared collectively. The tokonoma is no longer conceived as a site that fixes the gaze, but is re-enacted as a dynamic field where gestures, materials, and reflections intersect, generating attention and relationships. The installation thus becomes a ritual of attention, unfolding between hospitality and image as a contemporary ceremony of vision, a shifting space of exchange and shared perception.

本作は、トコノマ・シンドロームインスタレーションをアクティベーションするパフォーマンスであり、茶会の形式を参照しながら、茶の代わりに「イメージ」を媒介とする場を立ち上げる試みである。ここでは、イメージが淹れられ、味わわれ、分かち合われる。床の間はもはや視線を固定する場所ではなく、身振りや素材、反射が交差し、注意と関係が生成される動的な場として再演される。

Cette performance active l’installation Tokonoma Syndrome en la transformant en un espace de partage inspiré du chakai. Ici, c’est l’image qui remplace le thé : elle circule, se prépare, se goûte et se contemple collectivement. L’installation devient un rituel d’attention, où gestes, matières et reflets rejouent les codes du tokonoma, non plus comme un lieu de fixation du regard, mais comme un champ mouvant d’échanges et de perception partagée. Entre hospitalité et image, Tokonoma Syndrome se déploie comme une cérémonie contemporaine de la vision.
